A “City-Within-A-City” – Rehabilitation of the Northstar Center Tour and Social

Please join APT WGLC on Tuesday April 8, to tour the historic Northstar Center in Minneapolis, MN!

In 1963, Northstar Center pioneered the concept of a “City-Within-A-City”. As the birthplace of the Minneapolis Skyway system, and with its innovative mixed-use design and convenience, the property laid the groundwork for what a future workplace could be in a downtown business district. Northstar Center is now reborn as an experiential, hospitality-infused, mixed-use ecosystem that provides a workplace experience worth commuting to, and worth dressing up for. The rehabilitated Northstar Center features restaurants, a grocery store, a 7-story parking facility, offices and meeting spaces, an outdoor terrace, an indoor golf club, a hotel, and apartments. This tour will present the construction history of the complex, key design features, discoveries revealed during construction, and the main rehabilitation treatments that were sensitively introduced to the site. Following the tour we welcome people to join us for an optional visit and social time at the nearby Gardner Builders Office (general contractor for Northstar West).

• Parking: Northstar Ramp entrances on S 7th St, S Marquette Ave, and S 6th St. Street parking and other parking ramps available in the area.
