Please join APT WGLC for a special opportunity to tour the American Terra Cotta Museum in Crystal Lake, IL.
The tour will start with a brief introduction from APT WGLC Member Tim Schneiderwind followed by a self guided tour.
Established to preserve the artifacts of the American Terra Cotta and Ceramic Company the museum is available by appointment only. There has been no terra cotta production since the WWII era when the American Terra Cotta and Ceramic Company transitioned to TC Industries, a steel producer. Consequently there is little residual knowledge of ATCC. Fortunately, there was some research in the 1990s to catalog tooling, molds and and samples that were retained on the property and the museum encourages curious visitors to share any information they may have regarding the artefacts.
