Please join APT WGLC on an exclusive members-only tour of the KAM Isaiah Israel Temple in Hyde Park! The tour is open to 20 APT WGLC Members.
The KAM Isaiah Israel Temple was designed by Alfred S. Alschuler and constructed in 1923-1924. It was designated a City of Chicago Landmark in 1977, and is currently undergoing a restoration of the historic masonry facades and roofs.
APT WGLC will meet at 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at the main entrance stairs on the west side of the building (along Greenwood). We will give an outdoor tour of the site and the ongoing facade restoration and roof repairs, followed by a brief visit to the Sanctuary on the interior. A supplementary tour from the scaffolding will be available following the interior tour for anyone that has an active City of Chicago scaffold card and signs a waiver provided by the contractor on site. This is an active construction site. Please wear boots and bring a hardhat if you plan to access the scaffolding.
COVID-19 Safety: In addition to the construction site safety protocols, all attendees will be required to wear a mask/face covering, and we will maintain 6-foot social distancing during the tour.
Rain Date: If necessary due to inclement weather, we will reschedule the tour on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 4:00 PM.
